Members of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) met on Monday 12 December to discuss the Future Fit recommendation to close the Princess Royal Hospital Women and Children’s Centre and A&E and move them to Shrewsbury.

The CCGs decided to reject the recommendation and call for an independent review of the process following concerns raised by the Council about the methodology used by Future Fit in its appraisal and concerns also expressed by NHS England and other NHS bodies who said more work was needed on the appraisal.

The process has now been referred back to theFuture Fit board to allow time to independently review the proposals for thefuture of hospital services. You can read more about the proposals being considered by Future Fit here..

Services at the Princess Royal Hospital remain under threat of closure and being moved to Shrewsbury.

We believe closing services makes no sense.  The £28 million Women & Children’s Centre opened only two years ago and Telford was chosen because clinically this was the best location.  Telford and Wrekin is one of the fastest growing areas in the region and retaining full A&E services is also vital.

We urge people to join our campaign to keep these vital services at PRH.

Together we can make the voice of the people who use the services of PRH clearly heard.

Take action now

We want you to write to you local MP and tell them that this move simply cannot happen and why. These are vital services and our MPs need to raise the issue within Government and fight our corner. Now is the time to lobby them into action.
